Kings of Leon are rocking SA with Nokia in three weeks’ time! To prepare you, we present ten essential Kings of Leon classics available at the Nokia Ovi Music Store!
It’s just around the corner, folks! Tennessee’s world-beating rockers Kings of Leon are all set to rock Cape Town and Joburg at the end of the month, and excitement-levels are rising exponentially with each passing day.
Now, if you’re a devout Kings of Leon fan, it goes without saying that you’ll already have all of these classic KoL tunes from their five full-length albums. If that’s the case, check out our list, let us know if we left anything off, and help your fellow enthusiasts brush up on their KoL knowledge in time for the shows!
Grab these songs from the Nokia Ovi Music Store, learn them well, and you’ll be well poised to sing ‘til your voice disappears when Kings of Leon rock Cape Town on 26 October and Joburg on the 29th!

Album: Youth & Young Manhood (2003)
One of the early classics that put the Kings on the map! A certified party song, certain to get you bouncing. Even if you’re not a devout fan, you’ll almost certainly hear this and go, “I love this song!” Only now you know who it’s by, and where to get it! Download Molly’s Chambers here
Album: Youth & Young Manhood (2003)
One of the songs that set the template for the Kings’ trademark blend of driving, rocking basslines and catchy, soulful melodies. A beautiful tune, with a deeply groovy bassline that kicks the whole thing up a gear. Textbook Kings of Leon. You’re going to want to learn the words so you can sing along if they play this one live! Download California Waiting here
Album: Youth & Young Manhood (2003)
An outright rocker with just enough of a “dangerous” vibe to keep it exciting. Definitely one to jump up and down to whilst swinging your hair form side to side and getting all sweaty! Our bets are on this one to emerge towards the end of the set should they play it, when most of the audience has had a drink or three! Download Wasted Time here

Album: Aha Shake Heartbreak (2004)
Mid-tempo, slightly mournful and uplifting, with yet another infectiously catchy KoL guitar hook! One to rock to while you hold your girl/boyfriend’s hand, occasionally looking them in the eye to remind them – and yourself – that the whole experience is a memory you’ll want to hold on to. Download The Bucket here
Album: Aha Shake Heartbreak (2004)
A grittier, dirtier, harder one from the darker side of Kings of Leon! A seething rocker that would have been quite at home in the Seventies, opening up for Creedence Clearwater Revival or Led Zeppelin! No frills, no fuss… just pure, old-school rock n’ roll! Download Four Kicks here

Album: Because of the Times (2007)
A hauntingly beautiful, sexy and moving love song from the album that set the stage for Kings of Leon’s mainstream success with the follow-up, Only By the Night. Whether you’re missing someone, or holding someone you love, this one will definitely have some lighters in the air should the Kings bust it out at the show! Download On Call here
Album: Because of the Times (2007)
An epic, anthemic rock n’ roll classic, reminiscent of Bob Seger and Bruce Springsteen in their heydays! A crowd-favourite, the audience are likely to try their hardest to overpower the band on this one! Make sure you know it, so you can join in and help out! Download Fans here

Album: Only By the Night (2008/9)
You know it well by now! This was the song that took Kings of Leon from beloved underground indie/rock n’ roll up-and-comers, to worldwide stadium-rockers and a household name! It’s impossibly sexy, infectiously catchy, and it’s the one that’ll have the fans completely losing their minds! Download Sex on Fire here
Album: Only By the Night (2008)
A tune that masterfully showcases their gift for melody and moving lyrics. It also proved that young Jared Followill has certainly come a long way since joining the band before he could actually even play the bass (more on that awesome story here!) Played massively on radio stations and music-TV the world over, if you don’t already have this tune, now is certainly the time to get it! Download Revelry here

Album: Come Around Sundown (2010)
“It’s in the water! It’s where you came from!” Those are the words you’ll be singing at the top of your lungs when Kings of Leon start the chorus of this one. Which we’re pretty sure they’ll do at the concerts, as it’s the lead single from their latest , more “beachy” and chilled album, Come Around Sundown. Download Radioactive here
