Donovan Jackson

Donovan Jackson started typing in front of an IBM 286 green screen in a dusty newsroom in Heidelberg back in 1997. Covering school rugby matches, local politics and the occasional giant pumpkin was pretty fascinating for a time, but this was the 1990s. There were computers out there. Some rich people had mobile phones. Men had ponytails. It was a very unusual time. The force of the technology industry was strong. So typing Donovan followed that force. By 2000, it was ICT all the way. The only consistency was the typing, which by now had progressed from vulture-fingers to an unorthodox three-digit style…

A decade in and quite a few keyboards later, and Donovan has covered nearly everything technology-related from several perspectives…mostly tinged with a little jaundice and some other tropical malaises. And yes, enormous vegetables and other oddities continue to make an appearance every once in a while.
